Yes, we love new patients! We are happy to schedule you for a new patient examination, cleaning, and oral cancer screening. If you are having a dental problem, we are happy to schedule you an appointment for an examination to find out what type of problem you may be having and what type of treatment you may need to correct the problem.
Our office absolutely LOVES seeing children! We consider ourselves to be especially good with children of all ages. We usually recommend the first visit to the dentist to be at around the age of 3. That can be different for each child and we would be happy to discuss this with you. We perform cleanings, check-ups, fillings, and other dental procedures on children. Our entire staff is quite good with children and can usually make the visit go much smoother than you may imagine.
We will file any dental insurance for you, and our office participates with the following types of insurance: Delta Dental, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, United Concordia, Cigna, Aetna, and Met-Life. We are happy to review your dental insurance and explain your coverage to you, and what your benefits and co-pays will be.
We are open from 8 am till 5 pm, Monday thru Thursday, closed daily from 1 pm till 2 pm for lunch.
Our office is located at the corner of Broad Street and Springfield Roads, in the Springfield Medical Office Park, directly beside the Costco Wholesale Club.
Dr. Fortner has been in practice for 21 years. He graduated from The Medical College of Virginia/ Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in 1989. He then did a one year General Practice Residency at the University of Chicago. Dr. Fortner then returned to Richmond, which is where he was born and raised.
If you are having a dental emergency, you may call the office phone number 24 hours a day. If the office is not open, you will get either Dr. Fortner’s home number or his cell phone number. You may then call that number and Dr. Fortner will help you, either with advice on what to do, or he may need to phone in a prescription to get you thru the weekend, etc.
I started seeing Dr. Fortner several years ago when my dentist recommended some very extensive (and expensive) dental work. My wife had been seeing Dr. Fortner and recommended that I get a second opinion. He was able to reduce the cost and extent of the treatment substantially. I like the fact that he will not recommend treatments unless they are truly necessary. I trust Dr. Fortner and his staff completely!
